Weekend fun/work

Hey friends!

Just popping in to say hello, unload some pics, brag on my boys and a small race recap.

We had a great family weekend. We got to see almost everyone (except my brother and family).

Started off Friday morning hitting some garage sales. Looking for the usual, play clothes, and things/tools we could use and of course always looking for vintage pyrex and other cool things.

Saturday our lovely neighbor got up before noon (haha) to watch the boys while I ran and Aaron headed to an auction.

This was the 2nd annual A.C.T.S 5K/10K
Money raised helps kids in Haiti receive an education and other money stays here in the Warsaw community.
Last year it was EXTREMELY hot/humid and I only ran the 5K. This year I planned on running the 10K. I had not been feeling the best with either a cold or allergy combo. I felt awful and contemplated  even going. I figured at least I'll get in my run for the day. Ended up running the same time as the Sunburst 1:07 which got me 3rd in my age group.

Saturday evening we hung out at my cousins son's graduation open house. Enjoyed food and conversation with a lot of folks I haven't seen for a long time.

Dewey went with my sister to another open house and the three of us stopped by Diamond Lake for a nice visit with Dad and Bonnie (aka GiGi & Pawpa).

By the time we got home it was time for bath and bed.

Early to rise for a great church service, great lunch and lots of hard labor in the yard.

We had put up a split-rail fence last fall and wanted to landscape this year. Headed around to a couple places to check on variety and prices and ended at the Open-Air Market. He answered all our questions and had everything we needed and we like supporting local family owned businesses.

                        Before

                            After
Our boys love to help. They went back and forth from playing to helping. When it was time to water, Dewey was right the to man the hose.

We finished off the night making jello pops in our popsicle molds (yes, GS $.50) boys had to help.

Little family TV and one little ninja didn't make it long at all.

So precious! These boys are amazing. We are truly blessed!!

Have a great week!

Kitchen Finale

Final Kitchen Update

All the credit of this kitchen remodel goes to the best, hardworking, most particular, DIY husband in the world. Without him, NONE of this would even be possible. This is the third and mostly likely the last time the kitchen will be painted. I loved it yellow(no pics), I loved it red (pics to follow) and now I am SO in love with the grey/blue paint scheme we choose. We removed some cabinets to open up the space between the kitchen and living room, which made room for food prep and room for the kiddos to eat. So without further ado here are the before pictures.

We chose to remove the oven hood and put a new microwave there since we needed to replace our old one. So these are the only cabinets we purchased, because the others ones would not looked right. We sanded, primed and painted all them ourselves. We added a large pantry, removed sliding glass doors, removed cabinets, added cabinets, added backsplash. We chose not to replace countertops, we may refinish them at some point but for right now they are still in great shape and blend well with what we have done.

Sliding door gone, hello pantry/storage.

We chose the middle color for our pallet and added a bit of aqua/turquoise and pink for a pop of color.

Drum roll please..........

At this time there is nothing wrong with our stove and will update that to match at a later date.

As you can see I have a collection of vintage pyrex, thanks to a few great girl friends and IG.
I had to control my myself and choose wisely since I have minimal room.
The last thing is, I'm on the hunt for rugs for the kitchen. That may take a while.

I just love how handy my husband is. We were able to do all this ourselves with exception of having the pantry made and some help from a super great neighbor on an electoral outlet (aka garbage disposal outlet).

All of this has made in fall in love with my kitchen once again and fall more in love with the greatest man in the world.

Thanks for stopping by.
Happy Monday to ya!

Sunburst 2014

In January there are all these "early bird" race prices and the Sunburst was a heck of a deal. I've never ran it before but for the price and to finish on the 50 yard line of Notre Dame would be awesome! Well only one of held truth. The price. Notre Dame decided to replace the turf, so we finished right outside the stadium.

I rode up with some great friends who had been there before, so they knew exactly where to go and where to park.

The crowd wasn't enormous, I actually ran into a few friends/clients that were there to run the half marathon. Also we also talked to the Nappannee Chapter of Run For God. This was their graduation 5K!!

It was a beautiful morning for a 6 mile run. Goal time 1 hour 10 mins... Official time 1 hour 7 mins 13 secs !!!! For not knowing the route and 2 unexpected hills I felt great and ran good!

See ya next year South Bend!
