Run For God 5K Graduation

JA Stars and Stripes 5K Syracuse
Run for God 2014 graduation race too!

We had a very large group this year and Kris did a super job again this year.  Thirteen fellow runners returned this year to help her coach and mentor all the new and returning runners. Each of us had around 5-8 in our group and we also had a great group of people that wanted to walk.
Watching these guys and gals growing in their faith, forming new friendships, and becoming runners was absolutely amazing. I was exactly in their shoes last year and let me tell you it has really changed who I am! I will be forever grateful for Kris and Paul and NWCOG for bringing this program to our community.
Everyone did so well! Here are a few pictures of RFG grads that placed in the age groups. I don't think I caught everyone but I did catch a few.

I am So glad to be a part of this group and SO proud of all these great people!

When we were ordering RFG shirts Dewey asked if he could have on. He chose black, so Aaron and I followed suite. He says "when can I run with you?" I told him when he got a little older, and he looked so disappointed and walked away. I thought why can't he run just a bit, not the whole race but maybe the last stretch to the finish. So that morning I fueled as I do for a 5K and used a "Slam" from Advocare. I started of WAY to fast, felt really weird (best description) pulled off into the grass for a few seconds and went on. Not really counting on a PR (personal record) since Dewey was going to run the last part with me. I wasn't really looking at my watch, I was more so pacing myself with a gal that I had seen at a previous race in March. When we got in to Oakwood I looked and we were cooking at a pace of 9:45. I was just cruising along and at mile 3 there was my family and Dewey eagerly awaiting. Kris starts yelling "where ya at", and I yelled I don't know, and she says, "you can do this"... I said "no I can't I gotta get my boy"!!!!! So Kris got Dewey he started running as fast as he could and she had me pushing as hard as I could and....
I DID IT!!!!
I PR'd my 5K distance with a finished of
30 min 14 sec with an average pace of 9:45!
6th place in my age.
That is ridiculous!!!
This picture shows I was hurting by I needed that push.
THANK YOU KRIS!

What a great day making memories!

Next up Sunburst 10K May 31st
